Urban Village Fete Event Is Such Good Fun

Last weekend I went the Urban Village Fete held at Greenwich Peninsula.  The weather was perfect, everyone was smiling, chillin’ and having fun.  The first time I attended the event was in 2015 when it first started.  This year’s event was bigger and bolder with lots of design, music, art, and innovative workshops (I love the kids graffitti).  Featuring designer makers market, urban gardening, food makers market. If you were hungry, there was plenty of delicious mouthwatering street food and bars to satisfy your tastebuds.

Talks and Interviews

I went to a couple of interesting talks hosted by BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms At Urban Village Fete, Greenwich Peninsula.  I didn’t get to see all of them, but I did get to see:

The interview with Daisy-May Hudson, a 24 year-old film-maker who talked about both her and her family’s struggles when they were homeless.  Daisy’s feature-length documentary called “Half Way“, captures her family’s loss of their home and struggle to find somewhere to live.  This documentary shows how it can happen to just anyone.

Here’s a sample of “Half Way” trailer (and link to Half Way)

This event was full of the joy of life. With music by various DJs (Corey Hemingway, MarshmeLLo, Jack Hemingway and Bootsy Wilson, special guest) culminating in an eclectic set of cool tunes and classics from Gilles Peterson. The iconic British DJ and owner of Brownswood Recordings .  You just had to dance or at least shake a leg.

At the Peninsula

While walking around the Peninsula, I couldn’t help but notice some of the newly developed buildings on Penrose Way, Peninsula Central, SW10, and also the decor of the Mexican restaurant Chiquito.  I love the drinks bottles chandelier art pieces in the restaurant.

About Urban Village Fete

Curated by HemingwayDesign, Urban Village Fete is an alternative, contemporary twist on the traditional summer fete for the Peninsula’s pioneering residents and all Londoners.

Urban Village Fete is fantastic free day out for all the family, and you can even bring you dog… Woof! Woof!

At the event, I was pleased to be able to capture the founder (famous fashion designer and co founder of Red or Dead) Mr Wayne Hemingway himself.
