High Society Art Deco Mural at Metrodeco, 1930s style tea salon, Brighton
Last week Friday 10th July, I had a wonderful sunny afternoon jaunt along to the Metrodeco tea salon in Brighton. I finally caught-up with dynamic duo Helen Taggart (on the right in the picture below) and Maggie Morgan (in picture below on the left) founders of this 1930s style tea salon.
To be honest, I’d decided to go to Brighton on the spur-of-the-moment. So I got up early morning, booked my tickets and off I went. I thought I’d surprise Helen and Maggie by just turning up, and surprised they were.
It was lovely to meet Helen and Maggie for the first time, and to finally see our High Society Art Deco bespoke mural featured at the tea salon. It’s been a pleasure working with Helen and Maggie, and also with Louise Fleming of Shilou (Art Deco furniture makers), who introduced ATADesigns to the project.
Metrodeco makes their own blend of teas
During the afternoon I was well looked after by Metrodeco’s warm and friendly staff. I ordered a cold black tea, specially made by Metrodeco, and it was delicious, I recommend it! The black tea is called Chrysler, and I’m told that the deciding factor for the High Society mural was the Chrysler building featured in the design, it works very well with Metrodeco’s Chrysler Breakfast Tea. So I was honored to know this.
You’ll be pleased to know that Metrodeco makes their own blend of teas and you can buy them directly from their website online.
I also stayed for lunch, they have a great menu, so I ordered a Quiche salad. This was very TASTY!
I haven’t tried their homemade cakes as yet, but I’ll make it a priority on my next visit.
Metrodeco is “Devinely Decadent” says Viva Brighton Magazine
Metrodeco is “Devinely Decadent – an afternoon tea cocktail by Metrodeco’s Helen Taggart, with a floral, fruity blend of hibiscus, rosehips, cassis and lime” says Viva Brighton magazine
They also serve alcoholic drinks in the evenings eg. tea cocktails laced with alcohol, a selection of boutique gins with Fever Tree tonics as well as wines, beers and liqueurs.
Step back in time
What I love about Metrodeco’s tea salon is that it has style and glamour and it’s like stepping back in time with its refined retro style furniture, tableware, and music. Even some of the customers look the part. It certainly lives up to its reputation.
Downstairs at Metrodeco
Metrodeco is not just your ordinary tea salon, they host many chic events (see their blog ) and they also run a catering service. If you’re thinking of getting married? Well…they cater for hen and stag do’s too. Some of these events are held downstairs, just when you thought there wasn’t any more to see in this already beautifully appointed tea salon. This added surprise is just the perfect area!
Your visit to Metrodeco
If you’re in the Brighton area, why not pop into Metrodeco and say hi to Helen and Maggie. Trust me you’ll enjoy the experience and the warm, friendly atmosphere.
