Hi Everyone,

It’s been a long time since I last updated my blog. “There’s no excuse” I hear you say, I know, but I have been very busy working on new designs, products, commissions etc. All will be revealed in my next blogs soon. I have so much news to tell you that I can’t write it all in one blog, so I’m going to split up my blog so that it’s easy to read and digest. I hope that’s okay with you…..

First of all, I would like to introduce you to three people (Barbara Chandler (Freelance Journalist), Kevin Dean (Designer), Rory Dobner (Artist/Designer) who’s work I find inspiring, all of course will be written in separate blogs. The first person I would like to introduce is:

Barbara Chandler (Freelance Journalist)

A well respected experienced freelance design writer and photographer. When I asked Barbara if I could introduce her new book and she said yes, I was so chuffed….and glad she said she’d be delighted. I’ve known Barbara for quite some time now, and I’m privileged to say that she was one of the first Journalists to write about ATADesigns, and I’ll never forget that, and I’m sure many other designers will say the same thing. She is very passionate about what she does, and she reports it well.

Her new book is called “Love London” launched last year. I have a signed copy that is sitting on my bookshelf, not gathering dust, but well read. It’s a great book about London with fantastic photographs and if I must say, it’s “right up my street”. A perfect buy and falls in line with all the exciting things happening in London this year. For me, this book is inspirational as I love all the magical things about London, this book is a collectable item, a great reference guide for anyone interested in London and it’s iconic treasures, its culture, and gritty features. A wonderful book full of colour.

Love London Book

Love London Book

Love London, Barbara Chandler’s book of photographs, is published by Batsford, the old-established British publishing house;

It is a neat little hardback, beautifully designed and bound, and small enough to slip into a bag – and it only costs £9.99. With its 180 colour and black-and-white photographs, Londoners are loving it (to keep or for a present), and tourists, too, are snapping it up at gift boutiques, museum shops, and book stores all over the capital.

Photographs are teamed with over 100 quotes about London, from 15th century poetry to a modern blog, with Shakespeare, Milton, Johnson, Dickens and many many more along the way.” taken from Love London website

Barbara has also released a range of products under the Love London brand.

“Thank you Barbara for sending me your pictures, and for giving me the opportunity to introduce your wonderful book.” Annette Taylor-Anderson.

Here’s some pictures from the book to whet your appetite:

Chiswick High Road 2010
One of my very favourites – just came across this demo on Chiswick High Road where I live…good argument for having camera in handbag – I never have a
big bulky camera bag -I think that antagonises people – I look quite
inoffensive really if not marginally batty – the police smile tolerantly and pose….
“The first sign of age… is when you go out into the streets of London and realise for the first time how young the policemen look” Seymour Hicks (1871–1949), British actor, writer, producer
